i want one of these. a vet friend of ours gave us the run-down on some of the breeds we've been interested in, and it looks like the boston terrier is in first place for the cowgers.
i don't want to rush into getting a pup, but it seems like fall is the perfect season to start training a little buddy, to take him on walks and play fetch. my mom is completely against the idea, but i think her opinion is tainted by my sister's pitbull (who is no longer in the family, bless his schizophrenic soul).
david and i had a long chat last night, about a lot of different things... the theme being my continued unrest. i just think there are things that i'm meant to be doing, and i'm not doing them. i feel like a lot of creativity is being stifled in my life, and i have a craving to express myself more vividly. this has nothing to do with my marriage - that's the one area where i'm completely myself, completely satisfied, completely amazed. it has more to do with my purpose, my calling, my mission. vocation, if you will. how will i choose to make an impact in these next 50 odd years. how will i contribute/give back?
i want to find my outlet. i was running the other day, seriously considering piercing my lip. how unnecessary is that at 26 year old? but i've never done it, and i always wanted to do it. i'm getting older. i've got to take some risks - try the things i want to try. accept the process. i research art classes, i research grad schools, i toy with plot and character ideas for all my unwritten novels. i just wish i knew where to funnel my energies. what is the best use of my time?
saturday night, i ran into a girl that used to be one of my best camp friends when i was in middle school. she approached me at the star bar, and we went on to have a really great conversation. i haven't seen her in 10 plus years, but we reconnected effortlessly. we updated each other on our lives, and in her work, she has found something she is really passionate about. something that will take years to accomplish, but something that is worth all her time and energy. her eyes lit up as she talked at length about it. i was impressed. walking away, i mused over the fact that i now have people in my life who i haven't seen in over a decade... and i also have people in my life who have solidified their existence around a call, a path, a direction. we're all growing up, aren't we?
maybe this desire to have a dog is just a desire for a distraction or diversion from my restlessness. it would give me something to do, something concrete to work on. but then what?
hum...I hear you BreeAnn for I am a persoon who always seems discontent because I keep thinking I have to do something or I havent found my niche in life, my purpose. And it may be different for you, but God gently reminds me that my purpose is where he has placed me right now in this momwnt and then I need to focus on that. Not to ignore if something bigger comes up, but this is usually the case. He placed me here for some reason, right?
ReplyDeleteAs for stifled creativity...let me know when you figure it out. I have the same ill feelings and it drives me nuts. It seems to be swallowed up in my repeditive week. There seems to not be enough hours in a day. I have yet to figure this one out.
p.s. your never too old to pierce your lip. :)
